Our Story

Guitars for Kidz began in early 2026 when Mark, a lifelong music enthusiast from Covington, LA noticed how many local kids were missing out on music because schools had cut programs or families couldn't afford instruments.

What started with an idea has grown into a community effort. We are striving to deliver quality guitars to children across the Northshore, sparking joy, creativity, and confidence in young musicians who might never have had the chance otherwise.

Rooted in Louisiana's rich musical heritage—from blues and jazz to zydeco—we believe music is more than notes on a page; it's a way to build dreams and brighten futures.

Who We Are

We're a small, all-volunteer team of musicians, parents, teachers, and community members who share a passion for giving kids access to music. Powered by local support, we collect, repair, and personally deliver guitars to children in need—often right in their schools, youth centers, or homes.

What Drives Us

  • Community First — Everything we do stays local to Covington and the Northshore.

  • Accessibility — Free guitars and music opportunities for every child, no barriers.

  • Joy & Inspiration — We focus on the smile when a kid first strums a chord.

  • Transparency — 100% volunteer-run, every donation goes directly to the kids.
